This fall, I'm playing famed beauty Evelyn Nesbit in the new musical Harry Thaw Hates Everybody. I have a serious passion for American Studies and so am particularly excited to have had the chance to dive deeply into America's Gilded Age. Treating myself to high-end make-up and classifying time spent in bubble baths as "character research" has been another perk . . .
I've had a wonderful time working with director M. Graham Smith, the playwright Laural Meade, who has been up twice from L.A. to be involved in the process, and the fabulous cast and crew. Here are all the details. Hope to see you at the theater!
Remember Evelyn Nesbit, the beautiful Ragtime girl in the red velvet swing? She was the toast of New York, wooed shamelessly by Stanford White, the grand architect of Manhattan. But another man, Harry K. Thaw, waited ominously in the wings. Harry Thaw Hates Everybody puts the spotlight on Evelyn with a story that’s “got everything you could want in a good yarn. Beauty, sex, murder, money, true love . . .” Winner of the LA Drama Critics Award for Best Writing.
The cast includes Rosie Hallett as Evelyn Nesbit, Will Dao as Poire, Michelle Drexler as Mirabelle, Steven Hess as Stanford White, Carla Pantoja as Florence, and Keith Pinto as Harry Thaw. Stage management will be provided by Jocelyn Thompson.
Tickets are available for shows Wednesdays through Sundays, October 15 through November 22. Visit http://www.shotgunplayers.org for more information or to purchase online.
